I haven't been reading as much as usual lately. When I say lately, I mean these past couple months, and I guess that's because I've been caught up in the holiday rush like everyone else. I watched so much Netflix in December that I got an automated call from Comcast saying I was approaching my data limit. Note: I didn't even know I had a data limit. Now my brain is itching to get back to acting out stories in my head instead of watching them on a television. That's the fun in books for me. Each person is the director of the story they're reading.

The Cuckoo's Calling is a book I started a few months back but have yet to finish for various reasons. My friend Meredith raved about it, so I'm excited to finally finish it over the next week or so. Also, I suggested it to the book club I recently joined, and it's now our book of the month. If anyone out there in the Atlanta area is interested in joining, let me know! We meet once a month, and there will be an outing thrown in every now and then.

The goal is to finish Cuckoo as soon as possible, because I'm really looking forward to jumping into Fragile Things by Neil Gaiman. I picked this up after reading The Ocean at the End of the Lane. The prose in that book hooked me like a fish, and I couldn't get enough so I decided to look for other works by the same author. Unfortunately, the stock at Barnes and Noble was super low at the time, so the only thing left by Mr. Gaiman was this small collection of short stories. I've still got high hopes, and I'm sure it will meet my expectations.

Gloria Naylor is another author I enjoy. I read Linden Hills in for one of my classes in college, and I would read it again in a heartbeat. In fact, I might just do that next month. For now, Mama Day is on deck.

P.S. I am also reading this book on marriage by Francis Chan, not because I'm married or engaged or anything like that, but it came across my path the other day and caught my eye. It's been a great read so far, and I'd highly recommend it to couples and single people alike.
