When I was in college, I worked in customer service for a travel marketing company. One of the most popular smaller destinations was Naples, Florida. Since then, it's always existed in my head as that city in Florida older people with lots of money visit.
While quite qualified on those counts, I did find myself in Naples a few weeks ago for work and tried to make the most of my (short) time in this coastal town. It was quiet, and slow, and the restaurants easily accommodated last-minute reservations because their busy season is during the winter - when all the "snow birds" head south to escape the frigid winters up North (this is literally how multiple locals explained it). So while pretty much every other beach town is bustling in June, this one somehow stays more mellow.
And I loved every minute.
