A few years back, I was watching TV and flipped to a music video featuring Lupe Fiasco.
Lupe's music is good enough to make me stop & listen, but the lead vocals in this particular song caught my attention. One quick iTunes search later and I was falling all over Walk in My Shoes by Emily King. Soon after, I got my hands on her entire album, and I've been happily singing along ever since - never getting tired of her melodies.
Flash forward to 2013, and I finally got my chance to see her live.

Variety Playhouse is a small and intimate theater, and lucky for me, these are my favorite kind of venues. You can literally look the artist in the eye and see every ounce of emotion take over their performance.

It's powerful.

As was Emily King's voice. She was the opening act, and she beautifully set the stage for the evening.
(I had to settle for iPhone photos, again, since my DSLR wasn't allowed inside)

Next up was the lovely Emeli Sande.
Having only heard a couple of her songs, I wasn't exactly sure what to expect, but the show was fantastic.

After she left the stage, the crowd started shouting for an encore, the way you see in the movies.
So, she came back for a couple more song, and continued to blow everybody's heart to pieces. He voice stayed flawless from beginning to end, and I was utterly captivated the whole way through.
Needless to say, I'll be getting my hands on a copy of Our Version of Events VERY SOON.
Furthermore, I'll be looking to get to another concert within the next month or so.
It's time for me to get back to the music.
