Seeing how other people live their lives is oddly fascinating. I recently had a conversation about how people who are Internet Famous basically make money off sharing their lives, and the reason their careers thrive is because other people follow, like comment and otherwise engage. It is voyeuristic, but the idea of peering into the most intimate parts of other people's journeys and finding enjoyment sounds far less creepy when the content appears on your Instagram feed or in your YouTube subscription box.

I am no exception. I love blogs, vlogs, open diaries, and "a day in the life" content as much as the next person, and it serves as inspiration for this post (along with my my morning routine). Today, I am ripping off the How I Work series on Lifehacker. It offers insight on how higher-ups at prominent companies spend their day or organize their workflow. I am not a higher up. I probably have very little insight to offer, but I am writing this anyway.

Let's get to it.

Current Gig: Creative Content Writer
One word that best describes how you work: Methodical
Current mobile device: iPhone
Current computer: Macbook Pro

Take us through a recent workday.

I get an early start.

I usually get to the office around 7am and enjoy the quiet time while I map out my day, drink some green tea, and handle any urgent tasks. Some days are full of meetings, others are super low-key and I find myself typing away well through the lunch hour. Speaking of lunch, I usually eat at my desk then take an actual hour to work out at the gym in our building. Sometimes I take a proper midday break to run errands or eat with a friend/my mom/DH. I wrap for the day around 3-4pm, unless I have freelance work to complete, in which case I go home to unwind then fire up the computer for a couple hours again around 8pm.

What apps, gadgets, or tools can’t you live without?

Wunderlist for making lists
Feedly for catching up on daily news stories
Google Drive for all the file storage
OneDrive for reading library books while standing in various lines throughout the day
iPhone for all of the above

What’s your workspace setup like?

Organized. My Macbook connects to a 27in. monitor, and some times I use both screens but not always. My desk phone collects dust, and I am surrounded by a few photos of friends and family. I have an actual calendar within arms reach at all times since I like my deadlines visibly on display.

What’s your best shortcut or life hack?

List it out. If I don't write something down, I am more likely to forget about the task. (I have needed to make a dentist appointment for weeks for this very reason.)

Who are the people who help you get things done, and how do you rely on them?

My entire team. We have collaborative environment and all rely on each other in various ways.

How do you recharge or take a break from work?

Going to the gym for a workout (*eyeroll* I know, how pretentious of me, but I promise it is the truth), grabbing an afternoon cup of coffee, going out for lunch with a friend, or watching a random video on YouTube.

What’s your favorite side project?

This here blog right here.

What are you currently reading, or what’s something you’d recommend?

The Goldfinch (would not recommend so far) and Neverwhere.

Fill in the blank: I’d love to see ____ answer these same questions.

The lovely Carla, a.k.a Rae, of Rae La Soul

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

If it doesn't challenge you, it won't change you.
