Man. Where do I even begin with this album?

First off, it's been a while since I've actually been excited about some new music. I didn't know Solange was releasing a new album, but when I found out, I rushed to get my hands on a digital copy. I've been a Solange fan since her Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams album. "Tony" is still in rotation on my iPod (yes, I still use an iPod).

It's clear she's matured as an artist since Sol-Angel, and I'm loving every bit of A Seat at the Table. Her vocals are so powerfully angelic, and these tracks pack the most gentle and effective punch. I love the contrast between the softness of her voice and the confrontational lyrics. There's always an interesting outcome when art and politics collide, and Solange is here to play no games.

If you haven't listened, maybe take some time to check out the tracks below. (*Soundcloud Go is offering a free trial at the moment.)
