Well. It's that time of year again. All the 2015 roundups are in full swing on social media, and new resolutions are being made. I checked in with my resolutions from last year, and I stuck to 3 out of 5: I learned to put down the tweezers (although I had an unfortunate threading experience a few months back, so now I'm re-growing the brows out. AGAIN.), I started drinking way, way, wayyy more water (much of this has been seltzer water, but still), and I've gotten really good at responding to to texts/voicemails in a more timely manner.

Maybe if I whittle the list down to 3 intentions this year, I'll fare better this time around. Let's see...

  1. Master my DSLR. I've upgraded from the kit lens, so it's time to roll up my sleeves and start taking pictures more often. Pictured above is a good, old-fashioned film camera, and I saw I nice one at my favorite antique shop that I've put on my wishlist, but I don't want to buy another camera before I've learned how to get full use out of my current one.
  2. Move. House, townhouse, new apartment, I don't really care, but I've outgrown where I'm at, and Raven needs more room to run freely on a regular basis. Hopefully we'll get some yard space.
  3. Take a vacation. It's been years since I've had a real vacation. I've mastered the long weekend getaways, but I want a real 7-day trip somewhere.

These seem easy enough, and that's really all I'm going to commit to. No new eating habits, no new workout routines, no new schedules, just living life how I've already been living and welcoming any additional changes as they come. I've always considered my birthday as my "new year," so I might be singing a different tune come July, but for now, I'm good.

  1. Ohhh what lens did you get to add to your growing collection?? These are great yet simple goals. Same along with mines no new anything just to continue living life with all the changes in between.

    1. I got the 50mm 1.8, per your (and a few others') recommendation! So far i love it. My new task is to master exposure and white balance. Imma get on your level one day, girl!

  2. Happy new year Disa! Love that you kept your list simple. I completely did away with a list this year and am simply focusing on my health/ well being. You'll have to let me know how you like your new lens because I'm searching for a new one too :)

  3. I like the simplified list approach. It's so easy to go crazy and write down so many things at the beginning of the new year and completely forget about them a few weeks later. I'm excited to see your photography as you master your new camera. Cheers to 2016!
