I've never been the type to take a person's words to heart. I'm the chick that lets others opinions of me roll off my shoulders & on the the next. I'm not a people pleaser, and I never have been. Even as a kid, I made good grades and participated in activities to please myself, not my teachers, not my parents and definitely not any random strangers who may or may not be paying attention. So, everyone else's comments or criticisms were always taken with that proverbial grain of salt, since I wasn't trying to please them.

That being said, there's a little scripture that states "every matter must be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses," and I apply that baby all over the place. If I'm researching anything on the internet, I need a couple different sources to back up my findings. If my doctor were to give me any kind of negative report, I'd most definitely seek a second or third opinion, and if more than one person makes a similar comment about yours truly, I start to accept its validity.

Which brings me to the whole point of this post: my laugh.

 My Reality

Okay, it's not really that bad. Maybe more like this:

I'll have to get somebody to take a candid picture for a more accurate representation, but that gif of Brit Brit is pretty spot on. Mouth wide open & all.

I briefly mentioned this yesterday, but until about a year ago, I never realized how outrageously over-the-top my unfiltered laugh can be. Not those flirty giggles brought on when something is mildly funny. Noooooooo. I'm talking favorite sit-com, viral video, chuck milk through your nose in elementary school hilarious. [For the record, the only bodily fluid my laugh has ever made me lose control of is pee, but I mean... if you've never peed just a teenie tiny bit from laughing so hard, you've never experienced true comedy.]

So yeah, I'm sitting around with some friends one day, chatting, playing cards, eating, all that good stuff, and we're all having a pretty good time. It's nothing out of the ordinary... or so I thought. A few days later, these friends explain how my laugh darn near scared one of the guys we were hanging with that day. It's also worth mentioning that this man was a solid member of the US Navy.

MY LAUGH SCARED A MILITARY MAN.

And that is something someone told me about myself that I'll never forget - how could I?

These days I'm in control of it, especially in public. I only let loose with close friends and family, and thankfully, they've learned to accept it. I hope.

Over & out.
